Make Money By Opening An E-Commerce Store

If you're somewhat web savy, you can open an e-commerce website. I started one a couple years ago when I met an orchid wholesaler. When complaining about my income, he said, "Why don't you sell these?" pointing at the orchid plants in his shop. Good idea I thought.

I took some pictures of the orchids he had for sale and put them up on my site. An easier way to have an e-commerce website is to find a drop shipper (a company that ships the item directly to the customer) so that you don't have to deal with inventory or shipping. However, drop shippers often charge you more and you end up making less money per sale and you're trusting someone else to make sure the item ships on time.

1) To get started, think of stuff you might want to sell and buy a cool website name. You can buy a domain name at Nutmegaweb.com for $10

2) If you don't want to spend too much time designing a website, you can find a lot of free templates to download online. Check out these free website templates

3) As an e-commerce site, you'll read that you'll need special e-commerce hosting, shopping cart software, merchant account (way to process credit card transactions) for your website, which means more costs per month. Not good for someone just starting their website. I've got a shortcut for you. Use PayPal. You sidestep a lot of expenses probably saving you hundreds per month since those extra bells and whistles cost about $20-50 a month.

With PayPal, you can create buttons easily and customize your shopping cart with your logo and accept any major credit card and . I use it on my website too. Get a PayPal merchant account.
