Hold a yard sale and make a couple extra hundred dollars over a single weekend! While sorting through your potential sale items, you can do some spring cleaning too.
My co-worker Raquel held a yard sale over the weekend and when she came back to work on Monday, she said she made $300. She says she throws one every year.
My friend Kristine says every year to clean out her closet, she gets a couple friends together and holds a garage sale and they each make around a $100.
A club I'm in, throws an annual garage sale and everyone is encouraged to bring their stuff. I didn't bring anything because I was too lazy and didn't know anything about garage sales. However, I couldn't believe my eyes when over fifty women were standing on the curb waiting for us to open the church gates at 9 a.m. I'm not kidding.
My friend Cindy brought bags and bags of clothes she collected from her co-workers and family. She taped or stapled the prices on the clothes. Cindy made $100 from only her items (which she donated to charity).
Tips on Large Garage Sales
The location was at a church parking lot on a residential street in the Valley. Maybe about 100 of us brought junk to sell e.g. clothes, shoes, books, toys, old furniture, etc.
Everything was organized by type of stuff, like clothes in one area, books in one area, etc.
Price everything under $1 if you can. I think this is why Cindy made so much money. There was no bargaining, and everything was selling fast!
